Financial Consultant – Complex Account Reconciliations Duration: 6-month contract (remote) – Immediate start available. Base pay range: CA$50.00/hr – CA$70.00/hr. Compensation: $50-$70 per hour. Our Client: A global insurance and claims organization undergoing a significant general ledger and subledger cleanup. This role supports a high‑impact project team focused on eliminating backlog, improving accuracy of financial records, and building scalable reconciliation processes. Principal Tasks and Responsibilities Own and manage complex, high‑volume account reconciliations (bank, GL, subledger) with datasets of 200,000+ transactions. Reconcile monthly premium trust reporting packages to accounting records; analyze variances and timing differences. Prepare monthly external reporting packages for insurance partners and upload to carrier portals according to deadlines. Manage subledger accounts tied to trust accounts, including customer/vendor activity and timely payment applications. Investigate system mismatches in GL, AP, AR, and bank transactions. Extract and reconcile data across multiple systems; escape and resolve mapping or data quality issues. Build reports that flag outstanding issues, aging items, and remediation progress. Respond to internal/external inquiries and research root causes of reporting gaps. Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and IT to design reconciliation workflows and sustainable controls. Qualifications and Pre‑Requisites Must have Permanent Residency (PR) or Canadian citizenship. Strong experience with complex, high‑volume account reconciliations. Advanced Excel skills (pivots, lookups, large dataset handling). Solid understanding of accounting principles and subledger‑to‑GL relationships. Premium trust accounting, TPA, or insurance experience is a strong asset. Comfortable navigating GL systems (Great Plains/GP is an advantage). Highly analytical, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently. CPA designation preferred but not required. Not suitable for FP&A‑only profiles, nonprofit/small‑business backgrounds, or candidates seeking a management role. Additional Information Remote across Canada. Immediate start available.
