Employment Type: Temporary, Casual 42 hours per week based on 6-12 hour daily shifts (Monday-Thursday, excluding stats), on a Modified Work Arrangement. Location Manitou Beach, SK Compensation $23.59 per hour The LIT (Leader in Training) Leader role Includes supporting, coaching and evaluating assigned LIT Workers as they provide support in three areas of camp as needed (program, maintenance, food services, cabin helpers). When working in these areas the LIT Leader would follow the direction of the respective leaders. Duties Lead an LIT team to assist where needed in the kitchen, maintenance, cabin support and program areas of camp. Source or develop a Leadership Development program that is then facilitated as part of the LIT’s daily schedule. Complete and maintain assessments, reports and documentation as required. Facilitate check-in meetings with the LIT Workers and record meeting goals and outcomes. Promote the health and well-being of LIT Workers by ensuring assigned breaks are being taken. Maintain confidentiality regarding staff issues and camper personal information. Knowledge of and assistance in ensuring that all safety plans, emergency procedures and protocols are maintained. Attend and actively participate in all staff training sessions and meetings as arranged by the Camp Manager. Adhere to SaskAbilities’ policies and camp staff team agreement. Complete other duties as requested by the Camp Manager. Qualifications Education Post-secondary educational background/experience in education, youth worker, recreation, health care or social work. Disability Support Worker Certificate or education is considered a strong asset. Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Level C and Valid Class 5 Drivers’ license. Experience Previous leadership and supervisory experience. Experience in program planning and evaluation is essential. Previous experience working or volunteering with people experiencing disability. Skills Must be a team player and demonstrated willingness to collaborate. Strong self-initiative skills as well as problem solving and collaboration skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to handle multiple demands under pressure. Ability to positively interact with campers of various ages experiencing disability, all staff and external contacts. Maintain confidentiality regarding staff and camper personal information. Must be able to meet the emotional and physical demands of the position and be able to manage lifting, pushing, standing, and carrying objects. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards. Eligible to work in Saskatchewan. Final Candidates are required to provide satisfactory criminal record checks including a vulnerable sector search. Camp Easter Seal is located at Manitou Beach, SK. Transportation to and from camp is the personal responsibility of staff. Room and board are included (scheduled weekdays only). Only those candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
