Position Summary

As the Construction Coordinator (Utilities and Monitoring) for the Ontario Line Project, you will be responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, monitoring, and delivering all design and construction aspects related to wet and dry utility infrastructures of the Ontario Line project, including:


Responsibilities

  • Leading and/or participating in client development activities, assessing potentials, assisting with position and capture strategies, proposal, and presentation efforts for the civil aspects of Water/Wastewater pipeline, pump station design projects.
  • Supporting utility design development, permitting applications, and approvals processes.
  • Assisting in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and pre-construction surveys for dry and wet utilities. Organizing on-site construction activities to relocate, remove, or install aerial and underground utilities.
  • Overviewing Construction Impact Assessment Results (CIAR) and their Impact Classes on Existing Adjacent Utilities (EAU).
  • Coordinating site investigation reports and facilitating resolutions to fix deficient and non-standard findings.
  • Liaising with Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited (THESL) to apply for and obtain third-party attachment permits.
  • Organizing installations of temporary wet and dry utility services during construction.
  • Participating in biweekly utility coordination meetings and participating in various weekly utilities design and construction meetings.
  • Supporting Request for Information (RFI) process with project stakeholders.
  • Led utility pre-construction and kick-off meetings with utility companies and their third-party inspectors.
  • Overseeing utility construction operation, inspection, and commissioning, and following up on red-line drawings and final as-built drawings.


Education and Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical engineering skills in Transit or infrastructure large projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering field required, master's degree a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and prepare written reports and documents.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and teamwork skills. Technical writing skills needed to support development of technical reports, tools, support documents, and training materials.
  • Proficient with design and drafting tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Revit.
  • Proficient with the MS Office suite of products.
  • A team-oriented mindset, with the ability to schedule and manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Successful experience in forming strong and collaborative relationships with clients and internal team members across a broad geographical reach.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience should encompass hydraulic evaluations, conceptual/feasibility studies, preparation of design reports, development of construction drawings and specifications, bidding assistance, and support of office and field-related construction services.

Able to liaison with Municipal and Utility company representatives.

Experience with Permits and Permitting entities, and contracts.

Expert knowledge of municipal servicing standards and environmental approvals requirements.
