We currently have an opening for a Global Trade & Customs Analyst at ELCAN. Reporting to the Sr. Supervisor, Global Trade & Security, you will be responsible for the coordination of export, import and trade compliance activities within the organization. As a key member of the Global Trade team, you will maintain export/import compliance procedures and program documentation, including product classification, Canadian, U.S. and International authorization management and administration, technology transfers and deemed exports, self‑assessments and training. These activities will be in accordance with established procedures, guidelines and schedules. Why choose ELCAN? Location: Midland, Ontario We’re located in Midland, a growing community recognized for its technological innovation. Nestled on the shores of Georgian Bay, Midland offers the perfect mix of natural beauty and urban convenience, making it an ideal place to work, grow and belong. Primary Responsibilities: Ensure effective export/import compliance, in accordance with Canadian, U.S. and International export laws and regulations. Perform daily trade compliance activities, including: Review and approve hardware export authorizations both domestic and international. Prepare and review customs documents such as commercial invoices, CARM & CERS portal, USMCA and other free trade agreement analysis and qualifications, validate HS codes and tariff mitigation opportunities. Technology transfers / deemed exports (Data Services Export Requests (DSER) forms). Review the destination control statements for ITAR, EAR and controlled goods specific shipments. Preparation of end‑user statements for supply chain management. Import classification, valuation, country of origin analysis, assists reporting. Support trade compliance and security audits and implement corrective actions, as required. Assist with implementation of trade, customs and security compliance training. Supply chain due diligence to include: FCPA, Cyber DFARS, sanction approvals, annual vendor compliance certifications. Supporting the development and implementation of improved processes. Contribute to and uphold a positive, collaborative, and respectful workplace culture. Qualifications & Experience: A university degree or equivalent experience. Minimum two years of relevant experience in the export/import or shipment of goods and materials in Canada. Experience and working knowledge of Canadian Controlled Goods Regulations, U.S. ITAR, and U.S. EAR is an asset. Knowledge of Canada Customs and Global Affairs Canada regulations is an asset. Strong multitasking skills and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast‑paced environment. Self‑motivated with a consistently positive attitude. Eager to learn and grow through study, mentorship, and hands‑on experience. This position involves technologies regulated by the Canadian government’s Controlled Goods Program and the Contract Security Program. In order to obtain the required security clearance, candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada, have resided in Canada for a minimum of five consecutive years, and meet all other program requirements.
