Special Education Mathematics Teacher

The teacher will support eLearning students with an IEP, who may require additional, in person support through a drop in resource center.

The TLC/ Resource drop in class could contain students from Grades 9-12 studying at any level of the Ontario curriculum for Math. The teacher will work as part of a team at the St. Mary’s Catholic Learning Centre - Brantford Campus to meet the individual needs of the students.

Program Dates: July 2, 2024 to July 25, 2024 (Monday to Thursday, 9:00am - 2:00pm)

Qualification(s):

In order to be considered, you must hold the qualifications at the time of application.

Basic*: Intermediate/Senior Mathematics

Additional: Special Education, Part 1

Experience : Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience

Other : Demonstrated ability to implement individualized programming both in terms of content and instructional strategies based on the diagnosed needs of the individual student;

Superior communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;

Strong understanding of Differentiated Instruction, curriculum development and assessment/evaluation practices;

Demonstrated understanding of effective assessment practices (e.g. Growing Success);

Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.

*An applicant must hold the Basic Qualifications at time of their application to be considered for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The teacher will be responsible for providing face to face support for students needing additional support with their eLearning summer school course.

The Board currently employs over 1500 permanent staff and approximately 350 casual and occasional staff which includes teachers who are supported by a team of consultants, principals and administrators and non-academic staff who work to ensure the best possible facilities, supports and resources are available to our students and the system. The Board encompasses the broad geographical area of the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk. We are located approximately one hour west of Toronto, one hour east of London and one hour south of Kitchener-Waterloo.
