Job Title: Senior Substation Electrical Engineer Job Description Join a dynamic engineering consulting firm as a Senior Substation Electrical Engineer, where you will contribute to the design and engineering services across various industries including oil & gas, pulp & paper, power, and food & beverage. This role is based in Calgary and involves supporting the substation group by working on project teams to create designs for new projects, as well as alterations and redevelopments for utilities, substations, and data center projects. The position requires adapting electrical plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs, and guiding projects through the construction phase (IFC). Responsibilities Collaborate with project teams to create detailed designs for new and existing projects. Guide projects through the construction phase, ensuring designs meet budget constraints and client needs. Adapt electrical plans according to design factors and budget considerations. Lead substation projects, providing direction and oversight. Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and manage project approvals. Conduct IFC review points and ensure compliance with high voltage standards. Essential Skills 8-12 years of experience as an electrical engineer. Proficiency in electrical engineering with a focus on high voltage, substation design, and gas insulated switchgear. Experience with air insulated switchgear and utilities projects. Knowledge of IFC review points and experience in the detailed design phase of projects. P.Eng registration. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in the oil & gas industry is beneficial. Ability to work on the owner side and understand EPC pacing. Strong communication and client-facing skills. Proficiency in problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail. Work Environment The position is located in Calgary, Alberta, in a modern office at the Keynote building. The office features an open concept with meeting rooms, a gym, and a Starbucks. The work schedule follows a 9/80 pattern, offering 9-hour workdays with every other Friday off. The role involves collaboration with a team of approximately 14, within an overall Utilities team of about 30 people, and includes indirect mentorship of junior staff. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, AB. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $90.00/hr.
