We offer a dynamic work environment with a highly experienced technical team, where you will be offered guidance and hands on training and continuously challenged in all aspects of the engineering and design process.ResponsibilitiesProtection and control design including logic, schematic, wiring diagrams for utility and renewable substations.Develop control building layout, P&C one line diagram, AC/DC schematics, control panel layout and wiring diagram, station service AC/DC distribution diagram,Review designs against applicable industry codes and standards as well as internal MHV standards.Create bill of materials, cable schedules, point assignmentsWork closely with other disciplines and coordination design between disciplines (SCADA, Telecom Ensure communications take place between Design, Construction, and Testing & Commissioning and layout)Prepare Design Basis Memorandum (DBM) and Engineering Design Specification (EDS) documentsPrepare estimates, material take offs, scopes of work, and design packages.Prepare all relevant IFC drawings and engineering reports.Write construction scope of work and prepare IFC construction binders.Provide engineering support during construction.Complete station As-Built drawings and project close outAct as Design lead on projects with guidance from Principal engineerDevelop internal standards and procedures using IEEE and CSA standards.Provide technical guidance to the P&C design teamPerform a project management role on engineering only projects.Track project progress for engineering activities to ensure budgets and schedules are met.Provide weekly updates to senior management regarding projects progress, budgets and resourcing.Provide on the job training for new hires and junior members of the team.Maintain in depth knowledge of client and industry standards.Oversee and review designs of projects to ensure technical requirements are met and perform quality checks.Identify and develop new tools and processes to increase working efficiency.Complete engineering and material cost estimates for bids/proposals.Maintain excellent working relationships with existing clients.Actively promote Safety in Design.Possibility of travel for site visits and to provide technical support during constructionQualificationsProven track record in protection & control design of high voltage facilities.Minimum 10 years’ work experience.Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a wide spectrum of clients.B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and registered as an active member with APEGA.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives.Positive attitude, strong client focus and results driven.Experience in the utility industryPreferred10-12 years experience working in utility substationsPrevious experience leading a design team and mentoring junior engineersWhy Maskwa?Industry Leaders – With some of the most experienced and innovative design team in the industry, we offer an opportunity to work alongside and learn from some of the best in the business.Diverse Experience - With expertise in the three main areas of electric power delivery (Transmission, Substation, Distribution), MHV offers unique opportunities for individuals to develop multiple skill sets in the different disciplines.Work culture - MHV offers a collaborative atmosphere and promotes social activities in the work place.
