Canada Vividly Full time

Staff Software Engineer at Vividly Join to apply for the Staff Software Engineer role at Vividly Vividly is the leading modern trade promotion management (TPM) solution built by and for the consumer packaged goods industry. From campaign creation to deductions management and promotion measurement, we help brands manage every element of trade spend. With our easy‑to‑use platform and industry‑leading experience, we pride ourselves on our ability to bring businesses to the next level. We’re solving an $8 trillion dollar problem that is ripe for disruption by an innovative SaaS startup. We help consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands spend 20% of their topline revenue to get into retailers and promote their products within those retailers. The problem is that today 70% of those promotions are not ROI positive. This is because ROI is hard to track. The industry operates on emails, pdfs, and xls spreadsheets. At Vividly, we’re solving this massive problem with exciting tactics including AI, Machine Learning, and Fintech and adding value to everyone in the chain. What You Will Do Architect and evolve the core systems that power our platform – ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. Design and implement services, data models, and APIs in Rust and Python/Django to handle large, complex data sets with high performance. Lead cross‑functional technical initiatives, collaborating closely with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders to define solutions that balance long‑term scalability with near‑term business impact. Mentor and guide engineers across multiple teams, raising the technical bar through coaching, code reviews, and architectural leadership. Drive system design and technical decision‑making, setting direction for infrastructure improvements, observability, and fault tolerance. Identify and solve bottlenecks in performance, data pipelines, and system reliability. Influence engineering practices across the org: establishing best practices in API design, testing, deployment, and monitoring. Accelerate developer feedback loops by improving build, test, and release workflows; define and uphold clear service levels for turnaround time. Evaluate and introduce new technologies where appropriate, staying ahead of industry trends in systems, data, and infrastructure. What We Look For 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant exposure to backend systems and infrastructure at scale. Deep expertise in system architecture, distributed systems, and large‑scale data processing. Proficiency in Python/Django, with the ability to design performant, maintainable APIs and services. Experience with Rust preferable. Strong experience with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), data modeling, and query optimization. Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes). Proven ability to drive cross‑team initiatives, leading technical design across multiple pods or departments. Exceptional communication and mentorship skills, with experience guiding engineers at varying levels. Demonstrated impact on business‑critical systems, not just feature development. A mindset for long‑term scalability and technical excellence, balanced with pragmatic execution. Why Choose Vividly? A modern, remote‑first workplace.
