Responsibilities Provide specialized engineering services encompassing hydraulic model development for flow and water level forecasting. Create flood risk maps, support emergency response, and monitor basin conditions. Analyze and design infrastructure projects related to flood damage reduction. Conduct water management projects and manage consultant assignments, providing guidance and oversight. Qualifications – Essential Extensive experience in hydraulic modelling, model calibration, and verification using tools such as HEC-RAS, MIKE11, etc., and applying models to water level and flow forecasts. Extensive experience in analysing and processing complex hydrometric and bathymetric data using GIS to prepare data for model input and decision-making. Knowledge of principles of hydrology and water resource engineering including hydrologic processes, hydro-meteorological data analysis, interpretation, and spatial data representation. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with a multi‑tasked team and to work extended hours as needed to meet time‑sensitive demands for public safety. Capacity to undertake independent research and develop proposals that introduce new industry innovations into department operations. Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical and non‑technical correspondence and reports. Strong verbal communication skills and effective interpersonal skills to foster collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health work practices. Conditions of Employment Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent recognized by Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba. Must be registered or be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM). Must be willing and able to travel within Manitoba as required.
