Rotation/Shifts: Days, 8‑hour shifts. Basic Requirements Graduate of a Health Information Management Diploma Program recognized by the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CCHIM) at a certificant level. Member in good standing with CHIMA, maintained through ongoing CPE credits. Minimum of five (5) years of related experience (coding). Effective communication skills – orally and in writing – to convey complex technical, clinical and financial information to all staffing levels. Excellent organizational skills; ability to work independently and with a team. Thorough knowledge of the flow of health information within a healthcare organization. Excellent judgement and decision‑making in coding and abstracting. Demonstrated accountability for decisions. Excellent data entry skills with close attention to detail and accuracy. Advance knowledge of commonly used computer software for coding and abstracting. Ability to quickly adapt to new coding standards and electronic systems. Demonstrated commitment to the TOH values. Advanced knowledge of the CIHI Canadian Coding Standards and their application to all care types. Ability to work under pressure to meet Ministry and facility imposed deadlines. Ability to effectively recognize and contribute to team goals. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Strong understanding of the Provincial Funding Formula. Thorough knowledge of Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) grouping methodologies. Public speaking and presentation skills. Must be eligible to work in Canada. Preferred Qualifications Proficiency with MED2020 or 3M abstracting, registration systems, 3M Code Finder, and familiarity with Folio. Knowledge of Crystal Report Writing and SQL (Structured Query Language). Experience in adult education learning.
