Senior CNC Manufacturing Engineer We are looking for an experienced Senior CNC Manufacturing Engineer to join our client’s manufacturing plants in the GTA and Windsor, ON. The role is a technical leadership position responsible for the development, optimization, and continuous improvement of CNC machining processes within a high‑performance manufacturing environment. Compensation Base pay range: CA$90,000.00/yr – CA$140,000.00/yr. The actual compensation will be based on your skills and experience. Benefits Be part of a dynamic, progressive organization Above‑average compensation package Great team environment Career growth opportunities Positive work‑life balance Summary The Senior CNC Manufacturing Engineer is accountable for CNC programming, machining strategy, tooling, fixturing, and process capability while supporting production, quality, and new product introduction (NPI) initiatives. Key Responsibilities CNC Process Engineering & Optimization Lead the design, development, and optimization of CNC machining processes for new and existing products. Develop and validate robust machining strategies for complex and tight‑tolerance components. Optimize cycle times, tool life, machine utilization, and OEE. Establish and maintain standard machining practices, cutting parameters, and setup documentation. Troubleshoot complex machining issues, including dimensional variation, surface finish defects, chatter, and tool failure. CNC Programming & Technical Expertise Create, review, and approve CNC programs using CAM software and/or manual G‑code programming. Support multi‑axis machining environments (3-, 4-, and 5‑axis). Ensure programs comply with internal standards, safety requirements, and machine capabilities. Act as the technical escalation point for CNC programming and machining challenges. Tooling, Fixturing & Capital Equipment Design or specify fixtures, workholding solutions, and cutting tool packages. Collaborate with tooling suppliers to evaluate and implement new technologies. Support capital equipment selection, justification, commissioning, and capability studies. Lead machine acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) and process validation activities. Quality & Process Control Ensure machining processes meet engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications. Lead or support PFMEA, control plans, and capability studies (Cp, Cpk). Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for internal and customer quality issues. Work closely with Quality to support audits and customer requirements. New Product Introduction (NPI) Lead CNC process development for new programs from concept through production launch. Provide manufacturability input during design reviews (DFM/DFA). Develop routing, standard work, and capacity models for new products. Support prototype builds, pilot runs, and production ramp‑up. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, CNC programmers, and machinists. Collaborate cross‑functionally with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and EHS. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, lean manufacturing, and cost‑reduction programs. Support training and knowledge transfer within the CNC and engineering teams. Education Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is an asset. Experience 8–12+ years of progressive experience in CNC machining within a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience supporting high‑volume, high‑precision, or complex machined components. Proven track record of process optimization and continuous improvement. Technical Skills Advanced CNC programming and machining knowledge. Strong proficiency with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, NX, Fusion, or equivalent). In‑depth understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation. Knowledge of cutting tool technology, materials, and coatings. Experience with SPC, capability analysis, and structured problem‑solving methodologies. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing documentation standards. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to lead technical initiatives and influence without direct authority. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. High level of organization and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
