Job Overview The Finance Business Partner plays a strategic role in financial planning, reporting, and analysis, serving as a trusted advisor to the VP of Finance and to the organization. Responsibilities Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Collaborate with department leaders to interpret results, highlight trends, and identify opportunities. Prepare AFRC and board‑level financial reports, presenting insights to executive stakeholders. Lead organization‑wide variance analysis with actionable recommendations. Lead annual budget process coordinating input across departments. Provide financial analysis and scenario planning informing decision‑making. Build and maintain multi‑year financial models. Prepare quarterly forecast updates integrating actual performance. Oversee capital accounting including project tracking, capitalization, and fixed asset reporting. Monitor capital projects for timelines, budgets, and controls. Collaborate with capital planning, operations, and facilities teams for lifecycle strategies. Ensure compliance with accounting standards for capital expenditures, amortization, and depreciation. Lead preparation for external financial audits ensuring readiness of schedules and reconciliations. Serve as liaison with auditors and regulators fostering positive relationships. Maintain up‑to‑date financial policies and procedures. Oversee compliance reporting (GST, AGLC, CRA/charity filings). Manage a team of three with portfolios in inventory, capital, and AP/GL. Lead change management initiatives equipping the team to adapt. Promote culture of ownership, accountability, and collaboration within the finance team. Establish annual SMART goals with direct reports and track progress. Provide day‑day coaching, mentorship, and performance management. Leverage financial systems (Business Central, Excel‑based models) to generate reports and dashboards. Ensure continuous improvement of financial processes, systems, and reporting capabilities. Analyze and present key financial metrics to leadership highlighting risks, opportunities, and trends. Collaborate with IT and stakeholders to optimize system use and improve reporting automation. Contribute to inspiring and immersive experiences at the park by engaging in Heritage Park initiatives aligning with mission and vision. Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety by complying with HSEMS and policies. Demonstrate responsible stewardship of people, collections, and financial assets. Foster inclusion, engagement, belonging, and fulfillment for employees and volunteers. Required Qualifications University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. CPA, CMA, CFA, or equivalent designation (or working toward completion). Minimum five years progressive experience in finance and accounting focusing on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Minimum two years experience in people management. Minimum two years experience leading finance projects such as system implementations, process improvements, and compliance initiatives. Experience in a not‑for‑profit attraction environment managing grants, donations, and funding sources is an asset. Medium‑level proficiency in Office 365 (Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, Word) and proficiency in financial and accounting software (Business Central). Strong understanding of ASNPO, capital accounting, and financial compliance requirements. Data‑driven mindset with ability to analyze financial data and provide strategic insights to leadership. Excellent customer service focus and ability to manage competing priorities. Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across all levels. All successful candidates over 18 will be required to go through a Police Information Check as a condition of employment. Hours of Work The standard hours for this position are 35 hours per week. Occasional holiday, evening, and weekend work may be required. The schedule will generally be five consecutive days per week (Monday to Friday).
