Join us to build, lead, and impact the future of wellness. About the Role VitaminLab is a fast-scaling health-tech company specializing in personalized, on-demand manufactured supplements. Our proprietary software platform manages everything from formulation and fulfillment to practitioner management and e-commerce. We seek a VP of Software Engineering to lead, stabilize, and scale our technology systems. This role involves cleaning up legacy code, strengthening infrastructure, and building a foundation for innovation. You will drive technical execution, ensuring systems are reliable, scalable, and aligned with business goals. Responsibilities include managing engineering teams, overseeing code quality and architecture, and partnering with leadership to deliver critical features. You will also help plan the technology vision and develop a strategy for a scalable, secure future, communicating effectively with varied stakeholders and developing business cases to support recommendations. Key Responsibilities: Set the long-term technology vision and architecture for the company. Lead and scale the engineering organization: hire, mentor, and retain a high-performing team (software, data, automation, and DevOps). Stabilize and modernize the existing tech stack; reduce technical debt and legacy dependencies. Oversee development of proprietary systems, including:Formulation engine & personalization logic Manufacturing and fulfillment software (ERP/LIMS) Practitioner and consumer APIs Data & analytics infrastructure Ensure the organization maintains engineering best practices (code reviews, CI/CD, testing coverage, version control, and documentation). Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Manufacturing, Product, and Data teams. Ensure systems supporting custom formulation, labeling, inventory, and practitioner APIs remain reliable and performant. Ensure data security, regulatory compliance (HIPAA, GDPR), and system reliability. Manage vendor relationships for hosting, third-party integrations, and security compliance. Translate business goals into actionable technical roadmaps and sprints. Partner with leadership to prioritize feature development and technical investments. Drive AI and automation initiatives within the organization and for the software development team. Qualifications: 8+ years in software development, with 3+ years in a leadership or management role. Proven experience managing engineering teams in a SaaS, manufacturing-tech, or health-tech environment. Strong technical background in Python, PHP / Laravel, Ruby / Rails , or modern web stacks. Deep understanding of API development, database design, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps. Experience designing and building cloud architecture for data consolidation and growth. Experience with system integrations across ERP, e-commerce, and manufacturing systems. Excellent leadership and communication skills, enabling collaboration with the board, investors, and cross-functional teams. Strong project management and communication skills. Experience in regulated environments (Health Canada/FDA) an asset. Startup or scale-up experience preferred. Compensation: Base Pay Range: $125,000 - $150,000/annually. This role may include eligibility for a competitive performance-based bonus structure designed to reward growth, leadership, and impact.
