Position Title: HR SpecialistReports to: HR Team LeadLocation: On SiteStatus: Contract (6 months, with the possibility of extension), Part-Time, 20-hours per week The Program We are seeking an HR Specialist to join our growing team in supporting the organization’s mission by ensuring the effective recruitment, onboarding, payroll back up, and ongoing support of staff. The HR team plays a key role in maintaining a positive employee experience, managing HR systems and documentation, and ensuring compliance with employment standards and internal policies. This program is essential to sustaining a healthy, inclusive, and well-supported workforce across CJHS’s diverse service areas. The Position In this exciting new position, the HR Specialist is a key member of the Human Resources team, reporting to the HR Team Lead. The HR Specialist will be responsible for the day‑to‑day administration of the processes and systems that support the Human Resources function at CJHS. This role is responsible for supporting full‑cycle recruitment and onboarding processes, including scheduling interviews, preparing employee agreements, and managing digital signatures. The HR Specialist will maintain and update employee profiles in BambooHR, assist with help desk inquiries related to staff accounts, and ensure accurate uploading and tracking of onboarding, off‑boarding, and training documentation. In addition to core HR duties, the HR Specialist will serve as the backup for payroll processing. This includes supporting payroll tasks such as validating employee timesheets, assisting with payroll changes, ensuring accuracy of payroll data, and maintaining confidentiality while following established payroll procedures. The HR Specialist will work closely with the primary Payroll Administrator to ensure continuity and accuracy of payroll operations. Additional responsibilities may include: Administering employee leave of absence (LOA) requests and benefits. Ensuring compliance with internal policies and employment legislation. Coordinating staff training schedules and documentation. Providing general HR support and contributing to process improvements. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Qualifications 1–3 years of experience in a Human Resources role. 1–3 years of experience in a payroll‑related role. Currently pursuing HR‑related education or designation (e.g., CPHR) is an asset. Familiarity and experience with HRIS and payroll systems, preferably BambooHR is an asset. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. Experience with recruitment, onboarding, and benefits administration is an asset. Able to direct and manage priorities and workflow. Strong interpersonal and professional communication skill. Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative and be self‑motivated. Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of programs. Your past does not define your future.
