Chief Executive Officer

The CEO leads the industry association, championing the vision for the future of non-profit credit counselling. They are responsible for advocacy efforts, stakeholder engagement, and the timely delivery of services to its members. They create a collaborative environment and support diversity in representation and thinking. In addition, the CEO stays abreast of industry trends and integrates insight into strategy, and execution of key initiatives.
General Responsibilities
Mission and Strategy
● Lead CCC in a manner that supports the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
● Lead the association’s strategic planning process, and work with the Board, association members, and staff to implement the plan.
● Advocate on behalf of the association members.
Financial Performance and Viability
● Develop the organization’s annual budget and multi-year business plan for Board approval.
● Operate within the approved budget, maintain strong financial controls, and ensure the organization's positive financial position remains intact.
Organization Operations
● Lead operations effectively to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effective management of resources, including staff.
● Act as a national spokesperson on behalf of CCC and association members.
● Manage national creditor relationships to ensure ongoing support and preserve funding levels.
● Coordinate national public relations with association members to actively promote the awareness of credit counselling services and programs through the media.
● Establish and maintain key relationships with federal government bodies to enhance the services and programs offered by association members.
● Maintain website and other systems development and ensure system security.
● Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and regulations, and review and sign all contracts and agreements entered into on behalf of the organization.
Board Governance
● Work with the CCC Board of Directors to fulfill the organization’s mission.
● Develop policies and risk management plans for Board approval.
● Prepare for and attend all Board and assigned committee meetings.
● Perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
Professional Qualifications
● Five or more years of senior management experience.
● Can-do attitude, and willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
● A post-secondary education degree or diploma in Business or Social Sciences or equivalent educational qualification.
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Able to influence, motivate, and drive accountability.
● Solid, hands-on operations experience, and budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting.
● Experience leveraging technology to improve organizational efficiencies and effectiveness.
● Strong execution and organizational abilities including project management, planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
● Work experience in an industry association, financial services sector, or a non-profit is an asset, as is knowledge of not-for-profit credit counselling or the consumer debt market.
● Strong public speaking ability is an asset.
Effort Required (Physical and Mental)
Work requires light manual effort and physical exertion, e.g., prolonged sitting, and extended periods of time working in front of a computer terminal. Work priorities are set to meet deadlines on several equally important tasks simultaneously. There is some stress related to the fast-paced environment and the meeting of deadlines.
Location and Salary
This is a fully remote role, enabling the CEO to work from anywhere in Canada. The position requires some travel for conferences, one annual general meeting, and time with member agencies. The Salary range is $110,000 to $135,000 per year, plus benefits.
