Scope of Position Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Human Resources will be responsible for nurturing and supporting a culture that attracts, motivates, and retains the firm’s human capital. This includes guiding and supporting the organization on all HR matters to meet strategic objectives and goals for profitability and growth. Additionally, this role oversees the company’s legal matters related to human resources. Functional Responsibilities Contribute to overall business management from a human resources perspective, including strategic planning, understanding initiatives, and translating them into HR programs. Engage with senior management on strategic HR decisions. Manage HR functions from recruiting to termination across Canada, the US, and Europe. Develop and refine HR practices: recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, training, employee issues, reviews, documentation, recognition, corrective actions, exit interviews, record keeping, and administration. Collaborate with business leaders to implement talent management, organizational development, compensation, staffing, and employee relations programs. Consult with management on employee issues, legal compliance, and consistency across the business. Investigate and resolve employee relations issues. Oversee daily HR activities for a diverse workforce in a fast-paced environment, fostering a high-performance culture. Serve as the labour relations liaison for negotiations, dispute resolution, and union communication. Advise managers on performance, discipline, termination, and organizational changes. Ensure confidentiality and security of HR data and records, complying with retention and disposal policies. Provide HR guidance to employees, supervisors, managers, and executives. Lead development and management of HR policies and programs: performance reviews, succession planning, career development, training, benefits, employee handbook, etc. Work with senior leadership to ensure competitive compensation plans aligned with company values and goals. Drive initiatives for new employee integration, workforce alignment, and continuous HR improvement, monitoring engagement and compliance. Communicate organizational values to promote a culture of service, professionalism, and excellence. Develop HR strategies to address skill, knowledge, talent, and performance gaps. Create recruitment and retention strategies to attract top talent. Assess and enhance training programs; implement management mentoring; identify high-potential employees. Create and manage employee recognition and awards programs. Key Performance Deliverables Specific performance measures will be discussed and agreed upon with the successful candidate. Competency Profile The role requires expertise in HR, commercial acumen, motivating others, impact, integrity, and sincerity. Preferred Experience / Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred. 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience in a complex organization. Ability to adapt to ambiguity and lead change. Experience in data-driven HR initiatives. Proven success in strategic HR management and cultural change. Strong leadership, communication, and influence skills.
