**About the Opportunity**:
The Human Resources (HR) Specialist administers critical HR functions at KidsAbility, included but not limited to coaching, advising, sourcing, recruitment, selection, and onboarding activities, while working with the hiring Supervisors, the Finance team, and all other staff members, volunteers, and students. The HR Specialist will support the HR department and assist in implementing and maintaining effective HR programs and practices. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:
- Acting as a resource to all individuals within the organization and be part of an HR first point of contact for employees
- Assist in coaching, mentoring and developing team members all while supporting the human resources mandate, mission, vision, and values, promoting a positive relation as per the KidsAbility Strategic Plan
- Supporting all HR policies, procedures, programs, and practices, providing guidance and interpretation
- Ensuring high-quality and consistent recruitment, selection, and on-boarding practices within KidsAbility in line with Centre and legislative requirements
- Develop and provide insight to recruiting and sourcing, cultivate relationships to secure talent and expand diversity
- Participate in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and standard reports for ongoing organization requirements and when applicable for external parties
- Providing human resources services and support to staff at all levels, in the continued development of employee relationship management.
**More About You**:
To qualify, applicants must have a post-secondary degree or diploma in a human resource related discipline and a minimum of 3-5 years progressive human resources experience, in addition to:
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Human Rights Code legislation (including special programs, accommodation, competing rights), Employment Standards, AODA, employment related law, human resources management and bias-free hiring and promotion principles and practices
- Good judgment, decision-making, interpretation, and a high degree of original and independent thinking in developing and/or adapting methods or processes based on a relevant legislation
- Proficient communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to actively listen and collaborate
- Strong ability to work both independently, and as part of a team
- Superior emotional intelligence, problem-solving and time management skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and detail-oriented skills; with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet strict deadlines, and have excellent follow-up
- Demonstrates qualities that are customer-service oriented and encompass KidsAbility values
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle with public liability/property damage coverage
In addition to the above qualifications, the following skills and experience will be strong assets:
- CHRP designation
- Comfort and confidence in presenting information to various groups with tact and influence to support action
- The ability to assess and address concerns, using sound judgment to draw valid conclusions and provide appropriate recommendations and action plans. Maintaining a solution-focused mindset to resolve and prevent issues
