We seek innovative, collaborative minds to join our community What Is The Opportunity We are proactively seeking a Commercial Director to support future transit projects in Canada within the Urban Transportation Solutions group. We aim to improve transportation experiences through faster and more convenient travel—starting with the best team What You Will Do Here: Develop and implement processes for managing change requests, claims, and contractual notices throughout project execution. Administer project contracts ensuring procedures and practices are followed from start to finish. Lead drafting, review, and negotiation of various contracts with clients and subcontractors. Implement procurement strategies, oversee bidding processes, evaluate bids, and develop terms and conditions. Develop and maintain core procurement processes, evaluate effectiveness, and incorporate lessons learned. Ensure procurement aligns with project plans, resolve performance issues, and stay updated on industry trends. Report on commercial issues to leadership and project teams. Engage with insurance and legal advisors as needed. Manage project close-out activities, including defect liability and O&M. Lead and align a team of commercial professionals to project priorities, ensuring effectiveness and accountability. Promote an inclusive culture that fosters equity, diverse perspectives, and career development. What You Bring To The Team: Minimum 10 years of commercial management experience on major projects, especially in joint ventures and EPC infrastructure projects over $500M. Degree in Law, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent. Experience with various contract types and large, complex environments. Strong knowledge of change management, contract law, and project financials. Proven experience in tendering, procurement, claims management, and dispute resolution. Experience with risk management, liaising with clients and subcontractors, and using ERP systems. Fluency in French and English (oral and written). Aecon values diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
