Role Description This is a full-time role, in Edmonton, for a Vice President, Debt Advisory located in Edmonton, AB. As a VP, Debt Advisory, you will play a pivotal role in originating, structuring, and underwriting commercial debt transactions across Alberta and Canada. You will leverage your financial expertise and existing network of lenders, borrowers, and capital partners to drive revenue growth and deepen Synergy Capitals market presence. Success in this role requires a balance of sophisticated financial analysis, entrepreneurial business development, client relationship management, and collaboration with team members. Responsibilities Source and structure a wide variety of commercial loan products, including first and second mortgages, construction financing, bridge loans, and mezzanine debt for real estate developers, investors, and property owners. Build and nurture robust relationships with lenders, borrowers, and capital partners; actively tap into your professional network to cultivate new business opportunities. Deliver strategic guidance on sophisticated financing arrangements, performing preliminary underwriting and credit assessments in accordance with lender guidelines and investment criteria. Work in close partnership with Real Estate professionals and interdepartmental teams to provide comprehensive, seamless commercial real estate financing solutions. Evaluate financial statements, cash flow projections, business strategies, and market intelligence to design customized financing packages that align with client goals. Direct client and lender negotiations to secure favorable deal terms and facilitate smooth transaction execution. Track industry trends, property valuations, and risk indicators to shape strategic direction and client recommendations. Leverage digital platforms and CRM systems to manage deal pipeline, uncover new prospects, and strengthen client relationship management. Coach and develop junior staff while fostering a dynamic, results-driven team environment. Contribute to strategic initiatives such as portfolio assessments, investment analysis, and competitive market research. Qualifications Minimum 2-5 years of professional experience in commercial banking, commercial real estate debt origination, or investment brokerage with a focus on client consultation and advisory. Demonstrated success in sourcing and closing commercial mortgage transactions while cultivating enduring client and lender partnerships. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline; strong expertise in financial modeling and real estate capital structuring. Advanced proficiency in Excel , PowerPoint, and customer relationship management software. Strong capabilities in analytical reasoning, market research, deal negotiation, and stakeholder communication. Self-starter mentality with ambition to build and expand a client portfolio while thriving in a team-oriented setting. Proven capacity to work autonomously while collaborating effectively and demonstrating leadership potential. Flexible and solution-oriented, with the ability to manage competing demands while maintaining an enthusiastic, forward-thinking approach.
