People like youJob DescriptionSAKO Materials Ltd. is currently seeking a Security/Scale Operator to join our team of skilled professionals based at our Brampton Plant. This state of the art manufacturing plant produces premium asphalt roofing shingles in a high speed, continuous manufacturing process environment.Position Overview:Reporting to the Shipping Supervisor, the successful candidate will maintain production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and equipment. The incumbent will be fluent in English and will have good computer skills.Key Responsibilities:Continuously check the Security system and the gate/area monitors to ensure that the security of the IKO premises is not compromisedPrint the necessary scale tickets, bills of lading and custom papers for Truck Drivers. Obtain the necessary signatures and forward copies to the billing departmentScaling in and out trucksBe thoroughly familiar with all the IKO Emergency Procedures. Respond to any emergency as detailed in the Emergency section of the Policies ManualInvestigate each weight variance alarm and summon Shipping personnel to investigate the matter as wellRefuse to release any unsafe load and report the matter to the Shipping Supervisor or HSE Specialist immediatelyDirect carriers to appropriate loading docks/placesCommunicate with Shippers to control road traffic and waiting time of carriersComplete an Occurrence Report for every Emergency, fire alarm, odour complaint, security breach, and report from contract security personnel, disturbance with truck drivers or any other unusual occurrenceCarry out Security rounds as scheduled, completing the required record and checksMonitor CCTV camerasReport any employee, contractor, truck driver, visitor, etc., who is observed to be conducting themselves or working in an unsafe manner, or who is failing to use required safety equipment.Record the issuance of keys, personal protective equipment, walkie-talkies, etc.Qualifications:High school diploma or GEDAble to work independently as well as part of a teamAble to work on rational shifts. Hours of work will include weekdays, nights and weekendsGood organizational, time management and prioritizing skillsRead and speak English and communicate in English.Must be able to perform basic math functions.Uses telephone, computer, 2-way radio, calculator, faxes and printers.Strong work ethic and positive team attitudePrevious work experience in similar work setting will be preferredThis is a full time non-unionized permanent position.Benefits of Employment: IKO recognizes that its success is due to the strength of its employees.
