Senior Commercial Manager

In a rapidly expanding nuclear energy market, the Nuclear Business at AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Commercial Manager who thrives on teamwork with a strong desire to deliver for both internal and external clients. In this role you will be at the forefront of leading and supporting one of our major refurbishment projects, managing and balancing project commercial and financial risk. Your role Lead the Candu contract management function on a major refurbishment project within a joint venture environment. Work closely with the joint venture leadership to deliver the project commercial strategy and support the management of project agreements throughout the delivery phase. Act as a key point of contact to the client for contractual matters and handle delicate issues tactfully and professionally while protecting all JV partner interests. Liaise with and provide guidance on contract matters to the project team at all levels. Manage and mentor junior commercial staff as the project grows. Review, negotiate and draft project commercial agreements, including confidentiality agreements, purchase orders, contracts, consortium agreements, joint venture agreements, and other documents with practical application and risk consideration. Assist in the formation and administration of contracts with subcontractors and ensure that required terms and conditions are flowed down. Identify and analyze potential commercial risks and liabilities associated with ongoing project and supplier agreements. Prepare project‑specific contract administration manuals based on corporate templates. Assist project staff with the interpretation and practical application of contract documents. Assist project staff with identification, documentation, and quantification of changes in scope and claims. Obtain assistance from the appropriate legal department as required. Liaise with project controls manager, project finance director, and other key project leadership to monitor and manage the financial health of the project. Provide presentations and workshops on contract administration, including corporate policies, procedures, guidelines, and change/delay management. Access confidential information to support medium‑ and long‑term financial analysis and planning. Attend steering committee meetings between AtkinsRéalis and other partners and prepare minutes recording agreed decisions and actions. Qualifications University degree in engineering, finance, law or an MBA with at least experience in a similar role in construction or high‑technology industry. Formal training in contract law or contract administration is an asset. Experience in commercial governance, contract management and project delivery. Experience in intellectual property management. Proven ability to organize, set priorities and handle multiple complex tasks consistently with corporate processes. Understanding of client organisations, objectives, personnel, and environments. Ability to reconcile the objectives of buyer and seller as contracting parties. Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative. Experience in communicating with various stakeholder groups from internal project staff to clients, subcontractors and the executive team. Ability to present information at both detail and summary levels and interact with executive and operational staff. Strong administrative and organizational skills.
