Responsibilities You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the pre-owned vehicle department. This role involves managing a team of sales representatives, developing sales strategies, ensuring customer satisfaction, managing inventory, and achieving sales targets. Team Leadership and Development Lead, train, and motivate the pre-owned vehicle sales team to meet and exceed sales targets. Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular reviews. Provide coaching and professional development opportunities. Ensure adherence to dealership sales processes and policies. Sales Strategy and Planning Develop and implement effective sales strategies to maximize pre-owned vehicle sales. Monitor local market trends and competitor activity. Set monthly and annual sales targets and work with the team to achieve them. Collaborate with marketing on promotional campaigns. Inventory Management Manage pre-owned vehicle inventory, including purchasing, appraising, and pricing. Ensure optimal inventory levels through trade-ins, auctions, and wholesale activities. Monitor inventory turnover and price competitively. Maintain attractive displays on the lot and online platforms. Customer Relationship Management Provide excellent service throughout the sales process. Handle escalated customer concerns professionally and timely. Follow up post‑sale to ensure satisfaction and foster repeat business. Build strong relationships with local businesses and customers. Financial Management Control costs, manage pricing strategies, and maximize gross profit. Analyze sales performance and financial data to track progress. Collaborate with finance on competitive financing and insurance options. Prepare budgets and forecasts with the General Manager. Compliance and Reporting Ensure compliance with all laws related to vehicle sales and financing. Maintain accurate records of sales, inventory, and customer interactions. Prepare and submit required reports to management. Enforce dealership policies and procedures. Collaboration with Other Departments Work closely with service, parts, and finance for seamless operations. Collaborate with marketing to promote inventory through various channels. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; post‑secondary education in business, automotive management, or a related field preferred. Experience: 3–5 years in automotive sales, with at least 2 years in a management role, preferably in pre‑owned or used vehicle sales. Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage a sales team. Sales Skills: Strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Customer Service: Commitment to providing an exceptional customer experience. Financial Acumen: Understanding of gross profit, pricing strategies, and inventory management. Technology: Proficiency with dealership management software (e.g., DealerTrack, CDK Global) and Microsoft Office Suite. Compliance: Knowledge of automotive laws and regulations in Ontario, including OMVIC standards. Licenses: Valid Ontario driver’s license with a clean record; OMVIC certification required. Working Conditions: Role may require extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Primarily office‑based with time outdoors on the lot. Nice to Have Experience with Toyota or import brands. Familiarity with certified pre‑owned program standards and processes. Experience in digital marketing for pre‑owned vehicles.
