STRABAG is actively seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator for our Canadian division where the candidate can utilize their extensive knowledge to contribute to the continued success and growth of the organization. Job Summary The Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for managing project‑specific health and safety to ensure compliance with current legislation, regulations, and internal corporate health and safety policies, procedures, initiatives, and safe work practices. This position reports to the Health and Safety Manager and the successful candidate will be stationed at the ATC2 – Advanced Tunnel 2 for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension Project in Eglinton, Ontario. Duties Conduct safety inspections and record and report site non‑conformities to appropriate site personnel. Conduct incident investigations and ensure required external reporting obligations have been met and assist with the Return‑to‑Work Program. Conduct site orientations (as per pandemic protocols) and manage site documentation and records. Assist in the development and implementation of new documentation for continuous improvement of the Corporate Health and Safety Management System. Ensure inspection and maintenance of all safety equipment on‑site and oversee the JHSC. Oversee rescue team scheduling and related inspections of rescue trailer. Arrange, participate, and document site mock emergency drills. Liaise with external agencies when necessary (MOL, MOE, etc.). Ensure training compliance for site personnel and subcontractors and update files accordingly. Maintain the SDS library and ensure distribution and communication of new documentation. Monthly participation in worker safety talks to ensure the effectiveness of/bolster the internal responsibility system. Order safety equipment and supplies as required and approved by the Health and Safety Manager. Perform other related duties as assigned. Skills Strong MS Office skills. Attention to detail. Self‑motivated and flexible. Ability to multi‑task in a busy environment. Team player with a commitment to continuous improvement in health and safety. Able to work flexible hours. Must have a valid "G" Ontario driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract. Qualifications Minimum 3 years experience in a Health & Safety related role in heavy civil construction. Experience with external audits an asset. Extensive knowledge of local regulations as they pertain to health and safety and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Experience in tunneling an asset. Health and Safety NCSO/CRST designations an asset. Physical Demands While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be required to lift to 10 lbs. Work Environment The employee is generally required to work on a construction site. You will work in a motivated team and quickly gain a foothold through a well‑structured induction period.
