The Position The Student Links Coordinator supports the Student Links Initiative, an “in school” opportunity, which provides secondary school students (ages 14-21) with developmental disabilities the opportunity to explore post-school experiences and career options. Student Links Coordinators collaborate with students, their families, school staff, and designated supporters to identify areas of interest and connect students with community members who can share expertise and guidance. They facilitate student engagement with community members to build skills, explore career paths, and support students in planning for their future by exposing them to potential roles and opportunities. The Package Includes: Starting Salary : $54,602 per year Comprehensive Benefits : Includes vision and life insurance Paid Time Off : 3 weeks of paid vacation Professional Growth : Continuing education opportunities Retirement : Employer-matched RRSP Work Flexibility : Flexibility within core work hours What you will be responsible for: Works with the Student Links Manager/Director to create strategies and develop a recruitment plan for the assigned region Connects pro-actively with personal and professional contacts, networks, and community members to secure connections Through research and community mapping seek out potential community matches and opportunities to help students identify and establish deep community connections. Help students develop their own network and goals which they can continue to pursue even after their involvement with the initiative Maintain a regular presence in the community to develop ongoing community connections and relationships. This includes students, teachers, mentors, community members, and family Use all possible avenues to engage community including cold calls, social media, in-person meetings, presentations, networking groups and community events Develops and implements plans for engagement that demonstrate a commitment to a qualitative approach. Creates community connections that are tailored to the gifts, interests, and identities of individual students Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, and vetting all prospective mentors Committed to engaging English and French schools in assigned region Meets with students and parents on a regular basis to ensure information about the initiative is shared Documents daily activities including research efforts, cold calls, meetings, and correspondence via the database and calendar entries What Makes You the Ideal Candidate?  Post-secondary degree or College education in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Community Development or a combination of related education and experience Advanced computer skills (MS Office, Zoom, MS Teams, CRM systems) A commitment to social justice and inclusivity Ability to share your success stories and your struggles with the team Bilingual English/French candidates are ideal for this role. We also seek candidates who are fluent in other languages Experience with all aspect of the sales process would be an asset Ability to inspire and motivate members of the community to build long term mutually beneficial relationships. Leadership and relationship management skills are essential Well developed personal network or the willingness to build one. Understanding of the recruitment process and community development A passion for helping students and their families connect deeply with their communities in ways that will positively sustain them in the future Strong understanding and awareness of barriers facing people with disabilities and implementing strategies that may be used to combat those barriers Liaising with families who have children with an intellectual disability and utilizing a person-centered approach to highlight strengths and gifts of individuals Proven ability to network and connect people and willingness to build this capacity in others Experience working respectfully with diverse communities and individuals who have experienced marginalization Highly organized, and self-directed, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities. You always maintain confidentiality and professionalism Superior communication skills, both oral and written, combined with the ability to break down complex information into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand communications Experience working in a non-profit organization or with a member based not-for-profit would be an asset Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required for frequent travel within region (approximately 15 to 20% of time) and you will transport students in this role.  Travel beyond the region for in-person team meetings and training will occur approximately five times a year. Travel 45 minutes from your home office is expected This position is unionized Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at CLO Community Living Ontario is committed to building, maintaining, and fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
