Overview Senior Developer, Backend at 1Password. This remote role is open to candidates in the United States or Canada. Responsibilities Architect and build solutions to enable seamless third‑party integrations, collaborating with Product, Design, and external partners. Guide projects from concept to delivery and ensure cross‑functional alignment with stakeholders. Lead the development, testing and debugging of production software for new and existing features, ensuring successful delivery and regular updates to stakeholders. Drive technical design and implement improvements to performance, accessibility, reliability, and scalability of our technologies. Develop and implement effective testing strategies with cross‑functional teams to ensure high‑quality products. Mentor junior developers, share best practices, participate in code reviews, and help the team grow. Be available for on‑call rotations to provide uninterrupted support and resolve emergencies. Design and implement technical integrations that connect our customers with 1Password and their favorite software. Join partner calls to architect and troubleshoot integration solutions. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in software development. Strong experience with software development best practices, coding standards, and design patterns. Proven ability to solve complex problems and propose innovative solutions. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical partners. Experience implementing testing methodologies and debugging techniques to ensure high‑quality code. Ability to mentor developers, share knowledge, and provide constructive feedback on designs and code. Adaptable and resilient in fast‑paced environments with shifting priorities. What You Can Expect Lead development, testing and debugging of production software for new and existing features with regular stakeholder updates. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand product requirements and align technical decisions with goals and user needs. Mentor junior team members and empower them to work more independently while receiving guidance. Proactively identify technical challenges and propose scalable solutions during planning and delivery. Own task planning, estimates, and ensure on‑time delivery aligned with project objectives. Drive design and implementation improvements for performance, reliability, and scalability of our technologies. Develop testing strategies with cross‑functional teams to ensure high‑quality products. Stay informed about industry trends and advocate for relevant technologies and practices. Build test infrastructures to help developers test more effectively. Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, architecture alignment, security, and best practices. Document code processes to support scalability. Be available for on‑call rotations as needed. Design and implement technical integrations enabling customers to connect 1Password with their apps. Collaborate with partners on calls to architect and troubleshoot integration solutions. Bonus Points Experience with Kotlin, Swift, Rust, JavaScript, Go, or related languages, or the ability to quickly learn new languages. Salary and Benefits USA-based roles: Base salary between $156,000 and $210,000 USD, plus benefits, PTO, equity, and incentive programs. Canada-based roles: Base salary between CA$143,000 and CA$193,000 CAD, plus benefits, PTO, equity, and incentive programs.
