We are seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Programmer to join our team.

As a key member reporting to the Plant Manager, you will play a crucial role in operating a CAD/CAM-based computer to generate programs for CNC machines, providing X, Y, Z coordinates of holes, surfaces, and other critical details.


The successful candidate must have a strong background in programming CNC lathes, 3-axis CNC vertical mills, 4-axis CNC vertical and horizontal mills, and 5-axis CNC mills, with proficiency in Mastercam software.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Retrieve CAD data and translate files into the appropriate format for offline programming software, making necessary design and detail changes based on shop requirements.
  • Utilize existing product designs to create and modify designs, adapting them to meet new requirements, and contribute to the development of fixtures for machining new products.
  • Prepare CNC programs in relevant languages for machine controllers, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the machining process.
  • Assist machine operators by addressing questions related to CNC programs and inspection materials.
  • Create inspection sheets with dimensions and locations for active jobs and provide inspection points for manual inspections.
  • Generate plots illustrating all inspected details and file completed inspection reports.
  • Adhere to safety protocols outlined in the Health and Safety program and the Occupational Health and Safety Act, maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Train setup personnel and machine operators as needed.
  • Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues, ensuring production scheduling deadlines are met.



Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of machining experience.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T, fixtures and work holding design, and understanding of tooling, speed, and feed.
  • Knowledge of different types of materials and experience in the setup and operation of both CNC mills and lathes.
  • Experience in preparing setup sheets and documents.
  • CAD/CAM experience, emphasizing proficiency in large CNC machine cutting equipment and strong technical knowledge of machining processes.
  • Experience in a quality system role is an asset, with the ability to disseminate information on results and processes to other staff.
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software, specifically Mastercam and Solid Works.
  • Familiarity with machine controllers, including Heidenhain and Fanuc, is essential.
  • Strong mechanical problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Note: Schedule involves 8-hour day shifts, Monday to Friday. However, flexibility in working hours, including overtime and weekends as needed.
