Posting close date: Monday February 2, 2026, at 11:00 pm Pacific Time About the role The Deputy Chief Electoral Officer (Electoral Finance and Operations) (DCEO-EF&O) is one of two Deputy Chief Electoral Officers reporting to the Chief Electoral Officer. This position has a key role in the policy direction and strategic planning of Elections BC and in enabling the organization to meet its strategic and operational objectives. With overall responsibility for two program areas, Electoral Finance and Electoral Operations, the DCEO-EF&O has significant leadership responsibilities for provincial electoral event readiness and delivery, including the leadership and direction of over 17,000 election officials in the field. The DCEO-EF&O ensures that the plans for the delivery of electoral events are developed, maintained, and executed; that electoral event planning and management activities comply with legislation and EBC policy; and that voter registration and campaign financing and disclosure activities continue to evolve to meet the changing needs of voters, the public and political participants in the electoral process. All staff work in office full time during electoral events. Given the operational nature of this role, the DCEO‑EF&O is expected to work in‑office a minimum of 4 days per week during non‑event periods. Job Requirements To be considered for this position, you must legally be eligible to work in Canada. Eligibility to work in Canada is granted through citizenship, permanent resident status, or a work permit. Education and Experience Post‑secondary degree in humanities, social sciences, public administration or related discipline, and 10 years of progressively responsible, recent, related senior‑level management experience*, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. *Related experience must include: Leading large operational program areas, including change management and ongoing operational performance metrics. Developing project proposals, related plans, and complex budgets. Successful experience planning, managing and delivering complex, multi‑stakeholder projects on time and on budget. Directing, leading and managing teams, including developing and evaluating performance goals, coaching, team‑building, and mentoring. Providing expert planning advice and direction to managers and executives of internal and external agencies, including the delivery of presentations to officials, executive and senior management. Strategic planning, including experience operationalizing plans, managing complex organizational change and establishing priorities based on an agency’s initiatives. Interpretation of legislation, statutes and regulations. Assessing an organization’s strategic context and in the development and leadership of innovative initiatives to meet changing stakeholder needs.
