As a Senior Accountant, Taxation, you will provide comprehensive taxation services, ensuring that the tax affairs of every client are structured in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible. In addition, the Senior in Taxation is accountable for the proactive review of client information to identify planning opportunities, working with senior leadership and other firm members to deliver a quality product.

Your Scope:

Working closely with a Partner as a senior team member on identifying tax issues and planning opportunities for owner managed businesses;

Assist the tax department with corporate reorganizations, including reviewing minute books and financial information to determine current structure and share attributes, implementing the tax restructuring plans, completing election forms for tax and GST purposes, drafting engagement and legal instruction letters; researching tax issues and drafting detailed memos for the client file including accounting entries and tax compliance

Prepare and supervise terminal and estate returns, corporate and personal tax filings, capital dividend account elections, information reporting requirements, voluntary disclosures and respond to general tax questions from tea members

Discuss general tax issues directly with clients and their advisors (i.e. lawyers)

Assist in preparing Notice of Objections and responses to CRA (i.e. CRA audits)

Participate in weekly tax updates meetings

Other assignments and projects that may be required based on the department

and client needs

Prepare and review federal and provincial income taxes for individuals, corporations and exempt organizations;

Manage clients' high level personal and corporate tax and GST matters;

Your Qualifications:

CPA designated or currently pursuing completion of a CPA designation

1-2 years of relevant accounting experience, including exposure to tax compliance and/or tax planning

Proficiency in Tax software, Caseware, Excel, and Word

Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

Exceptional time management and organizational skills, capable of multitasking various tasks, projects, and strategic improvement initiatives
