What We're Looking For

Zebra Technologies is looking for a Mechanical Engineer, Senior to join our Engineering Customer Response Team (ECRT) within Enterprise Mobile Computing (EMC). This role blends post-release engineering support with cost-reduction initiatives for our mobile computing portfolio, which includes wearables, tablets, and handheld devices.

In this role, you’ll tackle customer issues, enhance product designs, and drive cost-effective solutions, all while collaborating with a top-tier team and making a significant impact on customer satisfaction and cost efficiency.

Location: Mississauga, Canada (Hybrid – Minimum of 3 days onsite per week).

Key Responsibilities

  • Post-Release Engineering Support: Direct engineering efforts to analyze and resolve mechanical issues on released products, managing customer-driven requests, continuous product enhancements, and end-of-life (EOL) component support.
  • Cost-Reduction, Cost Avoidance, and Supply Chain Resiliency) Initiatives:
  • Scope, plan, and execute an annual roadmap of strategic cost-reduction programs.
  • Identify and implement value engineering opportunities across the active EMC portfolio.
  • Collaborate closely with Joint Design and Manufacturing (JDM) partners and suppliers to develop, test, and release optimized, cost-reduced designs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with global Engineering, Manufacturing, Service, Quality, and Product Management teams to deliver timely hardware solutions and design improvements.
  • Design Improvements & Analysis: Lead thorough root-cause analysis, mechanical prototyping, and design concept reviews to deliver robust solutions that meet strict enterprise durability standards.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple high-visibility engineering projects simultaneously, communicating milestones and technical risks clearly to senior leadership.
  • Global Communication: Effectively document and present complex engineering solutions to diverse cross-functional teams and international business units.

Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a Technical field or related discipline.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience
  • Product design experience focusing on consumer or enterprise portable electronic products.
  • Technical Expertise: Experience with injection-molded plastics, die-cast metals, and precision sheet metal parts.
  • CAD: Proficiency in Creo Parametric (or a similar advanced 3D CAD modeling tool such as SolidWorks, Fusion, NX, Catia).
  • Engineering Fundamentals: Understanding of DFA/DFM (Design for Assembly/Manufacturing), tolerance analysis, and mechanical stress/vibration analysis

Preferred

  • Education: Master’s degree
  • Language Skills: Mandarin language skills (written and verbal) are highly preferred to facilitate direct collaboration with Asia based manufacturing partners.
  • Advanced Engineering: Experience with opto-mechanical design, structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA),Mold Flow simulation, and navigating ODM/JDM development models.
  • Root-Cause Expertise: Proven track record of resolving highly complex hardware issues utilizing root-cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys).
  • Leadership & Agility: Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to independently provide technical direction and maintain agility in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, and high-growth environment

Pay Range

$90,960.00 - $136,440.00 Annual

Incentive Compensation
