Join the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board as an Educational Assistant supporting students with exceptional needs. This full-time role involves 35 hours of commitment each week, focusing on inclusive education and care.
You will collaborate directly with teachers and professional staff to assist students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities may include implementing special programs, providing academic support, and assisting with personal care tasks. Experience in managing diverse learning needs is essential to foster a conducive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities: • Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities • Implement academic and special support programs • Assist with physiotherapy exercises and personal care tasks • Engage in pool programs and outdoor yard duties • Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive information
Requirements: • Community college diploma in relevant field • 1-2 years experience with special needs children • Valid First Aid/CPR certification • Training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, or BMS • Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum and assistive technology
