Senior Valve Application EngineerPosition Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Valve Application Engineer with a minimum of 15 years of valve engineering experience and a Mechanical Engineering degree. This position will provide senior-level technical support for valve applications, customer specifications, proposals, technical clarifications, and engineering solutions.

The successful candidate must have strong hands-on knowledge of industrial valves and be able to independently evaluate customer requirements, select appropriate valve designs and materials, identify technical risks, and provide practical engineering solutions.

Technical Assessment

Due to the technical requirements of this position, all candidates will complete a one-hour technical examination during the initial interview.

The examination will include customer data sheets, specifications, valve sectional drawings, and technical application scenarios. Candidates will be required to provide written technical responses demonstrating their ability to apply their knowledge to real-world valve applications.

A minimum score of 80% is required to pass the technical assessment.

Key ResponsibilitiesValve Application & Engineering

  • Review customer data sheets, specifications, drawings, and technical requirements.
  • Determine appropriate valve designs and configurations for specific applications.
  • Evaluate pressure, temperature, process media, flow conditions, corrosion risks, and other service requirements.
  • Provide expert technical support to Sales and Business Development during pre-tender and proposal activities.
  • Prepare and review technical proposals, deviation lists, and clarification logs.
  • Identify technical risks and provide practical engineering solutions.

The candidate must be able to interpret these standards and determine how they apply to valve design, materials, testing, and customer requirements.

Materials & Sealing

  • Select appropriate materials for valve bodies, trims, seats, stems, and other components based on service conditions.
  • Evaluate material compatibility, corrosion risks, temperature, pressure, and process media.
  • Have strong knowledge of elastomeric, thermoplastic, high-temperature packing, and metal-to-metal sealing technologies.
  • Select appropriate sealing systems based on application and customer requirements.
  • Understand material testing, qualification requirements, and acceptance criteria.

Testing, Qualification & Coatings

  • Understand valve qualification, certification, and design validation testing requirements.
  • Understand manufacturing testing methods and applicable acceptance criteria.
  • Review customer coating and painting specifications and determine appropriate systems.
  • Work with factories and suppliers to resolve technical questions regarding testing, coatings, and manufacturing requirements.

Customer & Technical Support

  • Participate in and lead technical clarification meetings with customers.
  • Act as a technical interface between customers, Sales, Engineering, Quality, factories, and suppliers.
  • Respond to customer technical questions and provide clear, technically sound solutions.
  • Assist with technical presentations and customer communications.
  • Support the resolution of technical issues throughout the sales and project process.

Required Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering degree required.
  • Minimum 15 years of valve engineering experience required.
  • Extensive experience with industrial valves and valve applications.
  • Strong knowledge of oil and gas applications and processing services, including hydrogen, CO₂, acid gas, transmission, SAGD, and other demanding services.
  • Expert knowledge of valve standards, materials, sealing technologies, and testing requirements.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret customer specifications and valve drawings.
  • Strong technical communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
