The Opportunity
The Associate Director, IT/S is responsible for supporting the daily operations of information technology services within a unionized environment, with direct supervision of teams being phased in over time. This position oversees diverse teams including development, application support, infrastructure, networking, helpdesk, cybersecurity, and audio/visual technical services.
Responsibilities include managing both third-party and internally maintained infrastructure and applications that support business processes across the organization, as well as assisting with IT/S financial operations such as contracts, payments, budgeting, and forecasting.
Roles and Responsibilities
Reporting to Director, IT/S, below are some key accountabilities:
- Work closely and collaboratively with the Director, Chief Information Officer and IT/S teams to ensure projects and operations are staffed according to needs and available resources, and that projects transition to operational status smoothly and on time.
- Ensure that information security remains a priority in all activities and services.
- Manage the daily activities of team members involved in the support and delivery of services, ensuring adequate staff coverage, and including longer range capacity planning.
- Ensure end-user communication is a priority for service outages, system upgrades, service improvements, service implementation, and service retirements.
- Work directly with vendors, contractors and service providers, providing oversight and budget management.
- Establish and enforce standards for change management, problem management and technical support, participating in the development and implementation of formalized policies and procedures.
- Assist in managing the IT/S financial responsibilities including updating the budget and forecast based on direction from the Director and CIO.
- Evaluate new technologies and platforms to determine alignment with Banff Centre business needs, while remaining flexible to business needs and changes.
- Manage response to alerts and notifications of after-hours activity; be available after-hours as required.
- Analyze and solve problems and make effective decisions. Escalate more complex matters to Director as needed.
