Technical Facilities Manager – Data Centre Operations & Projects

About the Organization:

A leading provider of integrated facilities and operational services is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to support the delivery of critical infrastructure operations within a highly technical, mission-critical environment.


The organization supports complex facilities where reliability, safety, operational continuity, and technical performance are essential. The successful candidate will join an established team responsible for maintaining high standards across building systems, infrastructure, maintenance programs, vendors, and operational projects.


Position Overview:

The Facilities Manager will take responsibility for the effective day-to-day operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of critical facilities infrastructure.

This is a hands-on leadership position combining facilities operations, technical maintenance, project coordination, vendor management, compliance, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement.

The successful candidate will be comfortable operating within a high-availability environment where preventative maintenance, risk management, emergency preparedness, and operational resilience are key priorities.

Key Responsibilities:


Facilities Operations & Maintenance

  • Oversee day-to-day facilities operations across a critical infrastructure environment
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventative and planned maintenance programs
  • Ensure building systems, equipment, and infrastructure are maintained to a high standard
  • Apply effective planning and scheduling processes to maximize reliability and operational performance
  • Conduct regular inspections and identify potential operational or maintenance risks
  • Ensure appropriate procedures are in place for emergency response, business continuity, and disaster recovery


Technical & Project Management

  • Coordinate facilities-related projects, upgrades, improvements, and infrastructure initiatives
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery against agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and technical specialists to coordinate project activity
  • Identify opportunities to improve facility efficiency, reliability, sustainability, and operational performance
  • Support the implementation of new processes, technologies, and operational improvements


Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Manage relationships with external service providers, contractors, and technical suppliers
  • Ensure contracted services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with agreed standards
  • Monitor contractor performance, service quality, compliance, and commercial effectiveness
  • Support contract negotiations, service reviews, and supplier performance management

Compliance, Risk & Safety

  • Ensure facilities operations comply with applicable legislation, codes, policies, and industry standards
  • Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, security, and operational risk management
  • Identify potential operational risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Maintain accurate operational documentation, procedures, records, and reporting
  • Support audits, inspections, emergency exercises, and compliance initiatives


Financial & Operational Management

  • Develop and manage operational budgets and monitor expenditure
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency without compromising service reliability
  • Monitor operational performance and prepare regular reports for senior stakeholders
  • Maintain appropriate asset management and lifecycle planning processes
  • Contribute to longer-term operational and capital planning initiatives


Team & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Lead, support, and develop facilities and technical personnel
  • Establish clear expectations around performance, safety, service delivery, and operational standards
  • Work collaboratively with technical, project, finance, IT, and other business stakeholders
  • Maintain effective relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and senior management


Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Facilities Management, Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline preferred
