Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada BuildOps Full-time
At BuildOps, we’re building a groundbreaking software platform purpose-built for today’s commercial contractors. Our platform helps customers manage service, project management, scheduling, dispatching, inventory, workflows, and financial operations in one unified system.

We’re an AI-native company operating in a fast-paced environment with a high bar for technical excellence, product quality, and customer impact. Because our platform is mission‑critical to the businesses that rely on it every day, reliability, scalability, and thoughtful execution matter deeply here.

As a Senior Engineering Manager, working on the Integration Platform, you will architect, build, and optimize the systems that power integrations and data movement across the BuildOps ecosystem. You’ll be expected to drive technical excellence across multiple teams, shape engineering direction, stay hands‑on in the code where it matters most, and translate long‑term technical strategy into practical execution.

What You’ll Do

Architect, build, and maintain the integration and data platform from the ground up, using modern AI‑native approaches to support expert agents across external systems and integrations

Lead technical decisions across the stack, balancing performance, maintainability, scalability, and developer experience

Design and optimize APIs and service patterns that support both product experiences and third‑party integrations

Improve database design, query performance, and data models to ensure efficient storage and retrieval at scale

Drive observability and operational excellence across services through logging, monitoring, tracing, alerting, and performance analysis

Contribute to and lead engineering‑wide initiatives that improve customer experience, system performance, productivity, and knowledge sharing

Evaluate and introduce new technologies, patterns, and tooling that improve engineering efficiency and platform quality

Define and reinforce strong testing practices across the stack in partnership with QA and engineering teams

Mentor engineers through technical design reviews, architecture discussions, pair programming, and knowledge‑sharing sessions

Influence multiple engineering groups through technical leadership and cross‑functional collaboration, not just direct ownership

What We Look For

10+ years of software engineering experience, including deep experience in modern JavaScript and TypeScript environments and leading large technical initiatives

Experience with workflows and data platforms, with strong instincts around data integrity, reconciliation, system quality, resilience, and reliability

Deep experience with Node.js, GraphQL, RESTful services, PostgreSQL, and Temporal in production systems

Strong proficiency with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including schema design and query optimization

Experience with event‑driven systems, messaging infrastructure, and real‑time data processing

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern cloud infrastructure across AWS, GCP, or similar environments

Strong understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, and scalable deployment practices

A track record of mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar through influence, clarity, and execution

Excellent communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to align engineers and cross‑functional partners across teams
