The Software Developer, Manufacturing Test Software is a key member of Redlen's Test Software team, responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing software systems that support the testing, characterization, and manufacturing of semiconductor radiation detectors, detector modules, and associated electronics. This role focuses on creating software applications, test automation tools, data management systems, and visualization platforms that enable efficient manufacturing operations, product validation, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement. Working closely with Test Engineers, Process Engineers, Product Engineers, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production teams, the Software Developer helps ensure reliable data collection, analysis, and traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
This role is eligible for Redlen’s Hybrid Framework, with a minimum requirement of 3 days per week onsite at our Saanichton production facility. As the role and team directly support manufacturing, it is not open to remote work.
Responsibilities
Manufacturing Test Software Development
- Develop, maintain, and enhance test software applications used for characterization, calibration, validation, and production testing of semiconductor detectors, detector modules, and associated electronics.
- Create and maintain graphical user interfaces (GUIs), APIs, and software tools used by engineering and manufacturing personnel.
- Support automated test systems used in R&D, New Product Introduction (NPI), and high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Develop software that interfaces with test instruments, embedded controllers, motion systems, and manufacturing equipment.
Manufacturing Systems Integration
- Support integration of test software with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), production databases, and other factory information systems.
- Develop tools to streamline manufacturing workflows and improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support process automation and digital manufacturing initiatives.
Quality, Deployment, and Support
- Perform software testing, debugging, validation, and release activities.
- Maintain source code repositories and software documentation.
- Support software deployment and configuration management within manufacturing and engineering environments.
- Investigate and resolve software-related issues affecting production and test operations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on software reliability, performance, and maintainability.
Experience
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience as a Software Developer or similar software development role.
- Experience developing and supporting software applications in engineering, manufacturing, industrial automation, or laboratory environments.
- Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Experience developing applications that interact with databases, instruments, or hardware systems.
- Experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional technical environment.
Technical Skills
Required
- Proficiency in Python and C/C++.
- Expe
