Capital Asset Lending / Mortgage Company of Canada is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join its executive team in Markham, Ontario.
The company operates in the private lending and mortgage finance sector. The successful candidate must have direct experience in lending, mortgage finance, private credit, banking or a related financial services business.
This is a senior, hands‑on role requiring a strong understanding of mortgage portfolios, cash flow, liquidity, financial reporting, credit risk and capital management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the company’s financial strategy, planning and reporting
Oversee cash flow, liquidity, treasury and capital allocation
Manage budgets, forecasts and financial modelling
Maintain strong financial controls, reporting systems and governance processes
Prepare financial reporting for the Board, shareholders, lenders and investors
Oversee audits, tax, regulatory reporting and compliance matters
Work closely with the CEO and executive team on major financial and operational decisions
Manage relationships with banks, auditors, legal counsel and other financial partners
Support financing transactions, credit facilities, capital raising and strategic initiatives
Lead and manage the finance and accounting team
QUALIFICATIONS
Senior financial leadership experience as a CFO, Vice President of Finance, Controller or similar role
Direct experience in private lending, mortgage lending, private credit, banking, real estate finance or a related lending business
Strong knowledge of mortgage portfolios, credit risk, liquidity, leverage and capital management
Experience in a regulated financial services environment
Strong financial reporting, audit, tax, compliance and corporate governance experience
Experience presenting to boards, investors and senior stakeholders
CPA designation strongly preferred
Experience with mortgage investment corporations, mortgage administration, institutional lending or structured finance is an asset
The successful candidate will be commercially minded, analytical and comfortable working at both a strategic and operational level. This individual must be able to identify financial risks, challenge assumptions and provide clear recommendations to the CEO and Board.
LOCATION:
Markham, Ontario Candidates should have relevant experience in lending or mortgage finance. Compensation: $190,000 – $225,000, with additional compensation opportunities based on experience, performance, and overall contribution.
