We are looking for experienced Human Factors / Ergonomics professionals to support aerospace flight deck design and development programs in Montreal and Wichita .

This is an opportunity to work on the design and evaluation of aircraft flight deck interfaces, combining Human Factors, ergonomics, engineering, aircraft systems and pilot/user experience .

What You’ll Do

Depending on your area of expertise, you will contribute to:

  • Flight deck and cockpit Human Factors and User-Centered Design activities.
  • Physical and/or cognitive ergonomics analysis and evaluation.
  • Cockpit geometry, interfaces, components and control placement.
  • 3D modeling, simulation, rig testing and product evaluation.
  • Flight deck HMI design, workflow, workload and usability analysis.
  • Requirements development, task analysis and human error analysis.
  • Prototyping and scenario-based flight deck/UX evaluations.
  • Interaction with flight crews/pilots to assess physical and cognitive usability.
  • Supporting certification and compliance activities related to Human Factors.
  • Collaborating with engineering, avionics, manufacturing and other Human Factors specialists.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • 4–15+ years of relevant experience , depending on level.
  • Strong practical experience in Human Factors / Ergonomics .
  • Aerospace/aviation experience, preferably involving flight decks or cockpits .
  • Understanding of aircraft systems, avionics and/or flight operations.
  • Experience considering the pilot/user perspective when developing engineering solutions.
  • Practical industrial experience — purely academic/theoretical Human Factors experience is not sufficient.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, initiative and technical judgment.

Physical Ergonomics Backgrounds

Particularly relevant experience includes:

  • Anthropometry, reach, strength and vision.
  • Cockpit geometry and physical usability.
  • Digital human/mannequin modeling.
  • Component and control placement.
  • 3D modeling tools such as CATIA, NX, Jack or Rhinoceros .

Flight Deck / Cognitive Human Factors Backgrounds

  • Cognitive ergonomics, workload and situation awareness.
  • Task and human error analysis.
  • Flight Management Systems, SATCOM, audio and avionics.
  • Flight operations and certification.
  • User-centered design, simulation and usability testing.

Important

We are not looking for generic occupational/workplace ergonomics or purely avionics/system engineering profiles . The strongest candidates will have experience applying Human Factors directly to aviation, flight deck or similarly complex human-machine environments .

Candidates from other complex transport environments may also be considered where their Human Factors experience is highly transferable.

French is an asset; English is required.
