Requirements

  • PhD degree in English, Media Studies, Comparative Literature, Cinema Studies, or a related area by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching in Game Studies
  • Humanities-based research and teaching focused on storytelling and world-making in digital and analog games and virtual environments
  • Work connecting critical analysis of games with game design theory and practice
  • Evidence of research excellence through publications, forthcoming publications, research statement, significant conference presentations, awards, accolades, and strong referee endorsements
  • Evidence of teaching excellence through teaching accomplishments, teaching dossier, and strong reference letters
  • Ability to foster diversity and commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and a respectful and collegial environment
  • Three references with recent letters submitted by the closing date
  • Canadians and permanent residents given priority
