- Pursue innovative and independent research
- Establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program

- Teach graduate courses at the St. George campus
- Supervise PhD dissertations
- Contribute service at undergraduate and graduate levels
- Participate significantly in developing and administering Game Studies programs
Requirements
- PhD degree in English, Media Studies, Comparative Literature, Cinema Studies, or a related area by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter
- Demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching in Game Studies
- Humanities-based research and teaching focused on storytelling and world-making in digital and analog games and virtual environments
- Work connecting critical analysis of games with game design theory and practice
- Evidence of research excellence through publications, forthcoming publications, research statement, significant conference presentations, awards, accolades, and strong referee endorsements
- Evidence of teaching excellence through teaching accomplishments, teaching dossier, and strong reference letters
- Ability to foster diversity and commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and a respectful and collegial environment
- Three references with recent letters submitted by the closing date
- Canadians and permanent residents given priority
