Research Assistant for Archiving Project

Engage in digital archiving at McGill University as a Research Assistant focusing on Snowflake, Arizona's unique community history. This part-time role emphasizes metadata generation and digitization. This position requires a full-time McGill student interested in disability and chronic illness advocacy. Responsibilities include working alongside the principal investigator and peers, learning metadata standards like MARC and DublinCore, and generating searchable metadata for community archives. Participants will also take part in community workshops and present findings at conferences. Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate on a research team with experienced professionals
• Learn standardized metadata fields for archiving
• Generate metadata for Snowflake archival materials
• Engage in community archiving workshops
• Present discoveries related to digitization processes at conferences

Requirements:

• Must be a full-time student at McGill University
• Authorized to work in Canada on and off-campus
• Strong interest in disability and chronic illness topics
• Effective communication skills in English
• Available part-time for the duration of the position
