Atomic is seeking an experienced CG Supervisor with prior experience on animated Unreal productions to join our team on a new Unreal project

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Lead the technical and artistic creation of real-time 3D content, virtual production and visual effects using Unreal Engine.
  • Design and maintain real-time or hybrid pipelines to bridge traditional Digital Content Creation (DCC) tools (e.g. Maya) with Unreal.
  • Collaborate with other teams to align with creative requirements and to ensure the production hits the required quality standards on schedule and within deadlines.
  • Conduct and attend regular meetings to ensure important information is communicated with relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor episodic progress, team output, and delivery timelines to ensure production remains on schedule. Flag any delays, challenges or other concerns with relevant stakeholders.
  • Work with show TDs and pipeline support to proactively develop solutions and resolve any technical challenges or issues before they impact production.
  • Oversee scene setup, asset importing, complex material/shader design, and advanced real-time lighting techniques. Assess and recommend appropriate external shaders/plugins/scripts.
  • Work closely with the client to understand the overall vision of the project and discuss and establish Atomic’s capabilities both technically and creatively.
  • Collaborate with other leaders to define the creative and technical approach for the project and oversee it through the pipeline.
  • Utilize Unreal Blueprints to establish custom tools, interactive features, and efficient workflows.
  • Profile, debug, and troubleshoot scenes to maintain high framerates and performance budgets for real-time delivery.
  • Provide creative and technical feedback to all departments when necessary.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Prior experience as a CG Supervisor on an animated series or feature using Unreal Engine.
  • Prior senior or supervisory experience in another capacity/department is an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency and experience with Unreal Engine is required. Must be familiar with rendering, shading, sequencing, and Blueprints.
  • Strong working knowledge of 3D software packages and pipelines including Unreal, Maya, Katana, Houdini, Nuke.
  • Cursory knowledge of all departments within a CG production pipeline.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and e-social communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills; highly motivated with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Able to problem solve and communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to learn new tools and technologies and implement creative changes.
  • Proven team leadership abilities, strong motivational skills and willingness to share knowledge and provide feedback to team members on work under development and mentor lesser experienced team members.
  • Knowledge of various ray-based rendering engines, such as Renderman and Arnold, is an asset.
  • Ability to write/understand code and assist in tool/pipeline R&D development is an asset.
  • Experience using Flow (FKA Shotgrid) for production tracking, submitting and publishing is an asset.
  • Currently legally eligible and able to work in Canada.
  • BC residents are preferred for this role, however all candidates will be considered regardless of location.

START DATE: September 2026
