Uses dynamic programming tools and languages that adhere to University Web related norms and standards. Architects websites, designs data-driven applications, builds and integrates interactive Web sites, applications, and services to find efficient client-server solutions. The work may be done independently or as part of a team.In this role, your responsibilities will include:**1. Web Design: Creates the look, layout and features of a website. Plans site design by clarifying goals; designing functionality and providing insight on trends and best practices. Develops site navigation by categorizing content; funneling traffic through content to ensure fluidity and consistency throughout the web site.2. Web Development: Analyzes client needs and designs, develops and rolls-out websites and other Web-based custom software and applications to support the organization’s needs. Collaborates with clients to identify and develop information architecture, design and layout, converting project requirements into code that will best support website users in obtaining accurate, meaningful and current information. Ensures quality work is performed in adherence with the University’s policies and standards.3. Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Analyzes, identifies issues and diagnoses the causes of Web-based problems or bugs. Interacts with clients to propose changes or alternatives and carries out the required repair actions in order to maintain the University’s web tools for clients.4. Web Server Management: Monitors web server performance and performs standard repair activities to maintain continuous access to Web-based tools. Collaborates with other IT professionals for the resolution of non-standard, complex server issues.5. Website Monitoring: Records and documents hardware and software problems, actions and solutions in order to facilitate the monitoring of recurring issues and design issues to have a readily available reference for similar future problems.6. Web Security: Protects site by designing and installing security precautions, such as firewalls or message encryption, while adhering to the University’s security protocol.7. Web Usability: Reviews and analyzes Website usage trends and investigates, evaluates and recommend new software to enhance the use of Web-based tools and to improve the quality of the services provided to Web users.8. Technical Advice and Collaboration: Provides advice on appropriate design concepts, technical requirements and other web programming tools to optimize functionality and to ensure the use of the best possible medium to communicate with internal and external clients. May be required to train clients on new on-line applications and services. Exchanges expertise with peers to promote the use and acceptance of the University’s standards and ensures consistent and user-friendly design of all Web tools.9. Web Content Management: Depending on the needs and preferences of the Faculty or Service, may be required to develop and manage the content of designated Web pages.10. New technology assessment and advice: Conducts market research, technology assessments and analysis and provides advice to clients for the effective selection and integration of web-based tools. Provides advice and recommendations in order to continuously improve their operation.**
