SHC is looking for a highly motivated, self-directed individual who is committed to advocating for public health care and related priorities across the province. This is SHC's only paid position and the director works closely with a volunteer provincial board to carry out the organization's advocacy, membership development, and operational/administrative work.
Reports to: SHC Executive Committee
Location: Remote, from anywhere in Saskatchewan; Regina or Saskatoon preferred
Travel: Semi-regularly throughout the province and beyond to host, attend/table, or speak at events
Term: Three-year contract, with probationary period
Job Activities
- Lead SHC's public campaigns and advocacy work, as related to defending public health care and other key priorities
- Plan and execute events, town halls, workshops, and rallies, in accordance with SHCs mandate
- Represent SHC at conventions, rallies, and events, and build relationships with funding unions, community organizations, and allied coalitions, including tabling at conventions and other events
- Recruit, manage, and communicate with SHC's membership, including processing applications and renewals
- Run SHC's recurring annual cycle: AGM preparation, the annual corporate filing, and coordinating renewals with funders and stakeholders
- Develop communication materials, including graphics for social media posts, flyers, and outreach activities
- Maintain SHC's website and social media presence; prepare and send email blasts and/or a regular newsletter
- Assist with financial processes and annual budget; manage SHCs administrative activities
- Stay current on provincial and national trends related to SHC's mandate
- Manage board files and annual calendar, assisting with agendas, bylaws, policies, and board processes.
