- 5 Years Position Start January 1st, 2027 Daycare Centre Manager / Hands-on ECE Kerrisdale, Vancouver | Full-time, Permanent About The Centre We are a privately owned, licensed childcare centre located in Kerrisdale, Vancouver. Our centre has two classrooms and serves up to 42 children from approximately three years of age to school age. We are looking for an experienced, caring and organized Daycare Centre Manager who enjoys both leading a team and working directly with children. This hands-on management position combines classroom involvement with responsibility for the centre’s daily operations.
About The Role
The Centre Manager will oversee the centre’s day-to-day operations while working collaboratively with educators, children and families. The successful candidate will regularly participate in the classrooms and may be counted in the staff-to-child ratio when required. Scheduled administrative time will be provided for staffing, enrolment, licensing documentation, parent communication and other operational responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the centre’s daily operations and maintain compliance with the BC Child Care Licensing Regulation Work directly with children and provide classroom and ratio coverage when required Prepare staff schedules and coordinate coverage for absences and breaks Lead, mentor and support a small team of educators Guide program planning in alignment with the BC Early Learning Framework Build positive and professional relationships with families Manage enrolment, attendance records, staff files and required licensing documentation Prepare for and participate in licensing inspections Support staff in responding appropriately to incidents, emergencies and children’s individual needs Help maintain a safe, organized, inclusive and nurturing environment Communicate staffing needs and other operational matters to the owner Required Qualifications Valid BC Early Childhood Educator Certificate Previous supervisory or management experience in a licensed childcare setting Strong working knowledge of the BC Child Care Licensing Regulation Valid first aid and CPR certificate meeting Schedule C requirements Ability to complete a satisfactory criminal record check under the Criminal Records Review Act Strong organizational, communication and team-leadership skills Ability to balance administrative responsibilities with hands-on classroom involvement Professional and respectful communication with children, families, staff and licensing representatives Qualifications Basic ECE Years Experience Required 3 Salary & Benefits Compensation and Employment Base wage: $28.00 per hour Eligible employees may receive the provincially funded ECE Wage Enhancement of up to $6.00 per hour, subject to government program eligibility and continued funding Potential combined hourly compensation: up to $36.00 per hour Extended health and supplementary benefits may be offered in the future, subject to employer discretion and plan availability.
