Remote (Evenings and Weekends)Reports To: Manager, Treasury ServicesEmployment Type: Full-Time What You’ll Do SummaryThe Licensed Insolvency Counsellor supports clients in their financial recovery by delivering mandatory counselling sessions in accordance with the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA) and OSB Directive 1R8. Through structured phone and video sessions, you will guide clients on money management, credit rebuilding, and long-term financial stability. This role requires strict adherence to regulatory standards, strong documentation practices, and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload while delivering a consistent, empathetic client experience. Key Accountabilities Insolvency Counsellingâ€
¢ Deliver BIA-mandated counselling sessions (first and second sessions) in full compliance with OSB requirementsâ€
¢ Build trust and rapport with clients through professional, empathetic communicationâ€
¢ Provide structured guidance on budgeting, financial behaviours, and credit rebuildingâ€
¢ Assess client needs and provide referrals to external resources when appropriateâ€
¢ Maintain a consistent daily caseload of counselling sessionsâ€
¢ Schedule and manage follow-up sessions within required timelinesâ€
¢ Complete all required e-filing and documentation accurately and on time Compliance & Documentationâ€
¢ Ensure full compliance with the BIA, OSB Directive 1R8, and CAIRP standardsâ€
¢ Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready client recordsâ€
¢ Meet documentation accuracy and timeliness expectations (e.g., e-filing within 24–48 hours)â€
¢ Complete required professional development hours to maintain counsellor licensing Collaboration & Client Supportâ€
¢ Work closely with Financial Wellness Partners, Licensed Insolvency Trustees, and internal teamsâ€
¢ Escalate complex cases or client concerns as requiredâ€
¢ Contribute to a consistent, compliant, and client-focused counselling experience across all regions served Ideal Candidate Qualifications Licensing (Mandatory)â€
¢ Active Insolvency Counsellor designation in good standing under OSB requirementsâ€
¢ Meets all requirements under OSB Directive 1R8, including ongoing continuing education Experienceâ€
¢ Proven experience delivering insolvency counselling sessions within a Licensed Insolvency Trustee environmentâ€
¢ Experience managing high-volume client interactions in a structured, compliance-driven setting Functional Competenciesâ€
¢ Strong knowledge of BIA counselling requirements and financial rehabilitation principlesâ€
¢ Excellent communication and active listening skillsâ€
¢ Ability to deliver structured sessions with empathy and professionalismâ€
¢ High level of accuracy and attention to detail in documentationâ€
¢ Strong time management and ability to manage a full counselling scheduleâ€
