You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams while mentoring future leaders and advancing industry best practices in tailings stewardship, dam safety, and sustainable mine development.

• Serve as a senior technical authority for tailings and mine waste facilities, providing strategic guidance throughout the project lifecycle from concept through closure.
• Lead and provide oversight on the planning, design, review, and optimization of tailings storage facilities, mine waste facilities, and related infrastructure.
• Act as Engineer of Record (EOR), Independent Technical Reviewer, or senior technical advisor on major mining projects.
• Advise clients on dam safety, risk management, regulatory compliance, governance frameworks, and industry-leading practices.
• Build and maintain executive-level relationships with mining clients, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
• Lead major pursuits, strategic proposals, and business development initiatives that contribute to the continued growth of WSP's Mine Waste practice.
• Identify emerging market opportunities and help define the long-term strategy and technical direction of the practice.
• Provide technical leadership and quality oversight across complex multidisciplinary projects, ensuring excellence in delivery and risk management.
• Represent WSP externally through industry conferences, technical committees, professional associations, publications, and thought leadership initiatives.
• Mentor senior engineers and technical leaders while fostering succession planning and capability development across the organization.
• Collaborate with regional and national leadership teams to strengthen client relationships, expand market presence, and support revenue growth objectives.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Geological, or related Engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and eligibility to practice in Ontario.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in mine waste, tailings engineering, dam safety, or related geotechnical disciplines.
• Extensive experience leading the design, assessment, and management of tailings storage facilities, waste rock facilities, heap leach facilities, and water retention structures.
• Demonstrated experience serving as Engineer of Record, Independent Technical Reviewer, or providing equivalent senior technical oversight.
• Recognized technical expertise in tailings management, geotechnical engineering, and dam safety.
• Strong understanding of Canadian and international regulatory frameworks, industry standards, and governance requirements related to mine waste facilities.
• Proven success developing strategic client relationships and securing major project opportunities.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring senior technical professionals.
• Active participation in professional organizations such as CDA, ICOLD, ANCOLD, MAC, or equivalent industry groups is considered a strong asset.
• Established record of technical publications, conference presentations, or industry leadership activities is an asset.
• Willingness to travel as required to support clients and projects across Canada and internationally.
