Job Summary

We're hiring a senior infrastructure engineer to own bare metal hardware and automation in a large regulated financial services environment. The role covers Cisco UCS (M7/M8, Intersight-managed), Dell, and client server platforms: provisioning, performance tuning, and patching requirements, across both standalone and clustered Windows and Red Hat systems. Bare metal automation for provisioning and day-2 operations is currently being developed and will roll out initially on the UCS platform, with Dell and client coverage to follow. This role will take ownership of that automation going forward, so strong Ansible skills are required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own architecture, configuration, and lifecycle management for Cisco UCS M7/M8 (Intersight), Dell, and client server hardware
  • Take ownership of bare metal automation for UCS as it's developed and rolled out; build out Ansible playbooks and extend coverage to Dell and client over time
  • Own design and build of UCS service profiles, server pools, and fabric interconnect configuration (VLANs/VSANs), including standalone and clustered host provisioning
  • Serve as L3 escalation point for UCS platform issues affecting Windows and RHEL systems, standalone and clustered
  • Define patching requirements for fabric interconnects and UCS servers; coordinate with the team that executes patching
  • Troubleshoot issues across automated and manual provisioning workflows
  • Coordinate with the SAN team on host-side storage connectivity configuration within UCS service profiles for bare metal builds
  • Work with Windows, Linux, and automation engineering teams to keep hardware-specific playbooks aligned with broader automation standards

Required Skills

  • Cisco UCS M7/M8 (Intersight-managed) experience
  • Dell server platform experience
  • Strong Ansible skills — including writing and maintaining playbooks for bare metal provisioning and day-2 operations
  • Windows (standalone and clustered) administration skills
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system administration skills
  • UCS service profiles, server pools, and fabric interconnect configuration (VLANs/VSANs)
  • L3 troubleshooting and escalation for UCS platform issues
  • Experience defining and coordinating patching requirements for server and fabric interconnect infrastructure
  • Troubleshooting automated and manual provisioning workflows
  • Experience coordinating SAN/storage connectivity configuration in bare metal environments

Preferred Skills

  • Financial institution (FI) environment experience
  • Experience with other hardware platforms beyond Cisco UCS and Dell
  • Ansible experience (additional depth beyond required baseline)

Required Experience

  • 5 years of experience in a similar systems administration or senior infrastructure engineering role

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Team of 4 individuals on immediate team; will interact with other teams across the organization
  • Hybrid work model — currently 2 days onsite per week, could increase to 4 days as directed by the bank
  • Overtime is not typically required
  • Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans
  • 401k Retirement Fund
