Introduction

We are seeking a Director, Projects North and Central America Region to join our Project Management and Engineering team within the Beneficiation, Dewatering and Hydrometallurgy Business Line (BDH BL) in the Services organization (SVS). You will be responsible for leading the BDH upgrade and modernization project portfolio across North and Central America, ensuring strong performance in safety, quality, schedule, and budget. Your work involves elevating portfolio strategy, strengthening delivery governance, and enhancing cross functional alignment across the region. Your role plays a crucial part in ensuring reliable and transparent project execution, which will positively impact customer satisfaction and operational performance across BDH BL.

In this position, you will report to the Head of Project Management and Engineering for BDH BL.

This position is mainly located in Canada (Montreal or Burlington) or USA (Mesa), and we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. Please note that internal travel will constitute approximately 30% of your annual working time.

You will join a team of project management and engineering experts dedicated to delivering high quality upgrade and modernization projects across technologies and borders. Our team strives to ensure consistent execution excellence, clear communication, and strong customer alignment throughout the upgrade lifecycle. We are currently working on strengthening portfolio governance, harmonizing global practices across BLs, and developing cross regional collaboration models.

We work closely with internal and external stakeholders such as BDH Engineering, SVS Global Logistics Operations, Market Area NCA, Capex Delivery, Supply Chain, and Finance. Our team culture is all about collaboration, accountability, and high performance delivery. Team members are located across multiple global regions.

What you'll do

  • Oversee the BDH upgrade and modernization project portfolio in NCA, ensuring strong delivery performance, customer satisfaction, and compliance with contractual, product, and HSE requirements.
  • Lead, empower, and develop a team of project managers, strengthening regional capability and execution of globally managed programs.
  • Drive continuous improvement and ensure consistent application of SVS processes, standards, tools, and stage gate governance.
  • Contribute to global harmonization efforts that advance common ways of working across Business Lines.
  • Provide senior level support during customer and stakeholder interactions, ensuring aligned expectations and clear communication across multiple projects.
  • Collaborate closely with BDH Engineering, Global Logistics, Market Area NCA, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure portfolio schedule integrity and proactive risk mitigation.
  • Ensure robust scope and change management across the portfolio and provide expert delivery input for upgrade proposals.
  • Implement a consistent regional approach to tariff and trade impacts, ensuring transparent communication regarding cost and lead time implications.

Who you are

  • You bring extensive experience in the mining or mineral processing industry, ideally with exposure to complex, multi project portfolios.
  • You have 5+ years of portfolio management experience, preferably in service modernization or capital project environments.
  • A proven leader, you excel in matrixed, cross functional, and multicultural environments.
  • You have a strong record of strategic decision making, delivery excellence, and professional integrity.
  • You possess broad project delivery expertise, including engineering, planning, construction, commissioning, safety, and quality—applied at a governance level.
  • You have a customer centric mindset and strong business acumen to support commercial decisions.
  • Skilled in resource planning, competence development, and performance leadership.
  • Strong empowerment, prioritization, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of procurement practices, relevant mineral processing technologies, and tools such as MS Project, SAP, and Enovia.
  • Nice to have: Additional languages such as Spanish or French.
