LIBRARIAN

Lakeland Catholic School Division is seeking a part-time Librarian to support École Dr. Bernard Brosseau Middle School in Bonnyville, AB for the 2025–2026 school year.

Serving students in Grades 5 to 8, this position requires a highly organized, student-centred professional who is committed to fostering literacy, supporting research and digital skills, and maintaining a welcoming and well-managed learning environment. The successful applicant will oversee all daily library operations and collaborate with school staff to enrich literacy and learning within a Catholic educational setting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Curate, organize, and maintain a diverse collection of books and educational resources
• Provide daily supervision and organization of the school library
• Support students in locating and selecting reading, research, and digital learning materials
• Plan and lead library activities, reading challenges, and special events that promote literacy
• Educate students on research skills, digital literacy, responsible information sourcing, and library use
• Manage circulation, shelving, cataloguing, returns, new acquisitions, and overall library inventory
• Assist teachers in locating and utilizing classroom and curricular resources
• Maintain a welcoming, safe, and engaging library space for students and staff
• Support student behaviour expectations, ensuring safety, respect, and alignment with school standards
• Possess strong data entry, research, and organizational skills to support library operations
• Prepare and manage school-level purchasing, financial tracking, and resource ordering for the library
• Contribute to the effective operation and positive image of the school and the division
• Assist with organizing and supporting school functions and events

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Certificate or diploma in Library Studies, Information Management, Office Administration, or a related field
• Experience working in a library or educational setting preferred
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Passion for youth education and literacy
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Alignment with the mission and values of Catholic education

ADDITIONAL ASSETS

• Familiarity with cataloguing systems or library management platforms
• Ability to support diverse learners with varied reading levels and interests
• Comfort with integrating technology and digital literacy tools
• French language skills are considered an asset but are not required
