Job Description:

Parsons is seeking for an Electrical Engineer in training in their Markham office in Ontario to join the civil infrastructure group to be part of team working on projects of Roadways, Bridges, Transitways, Municipal and/or County arterial roads, side streets, multi-use pathways, parking facilities etc.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be part of electrical project team and attend project meetings
  • Perform lighting calculations (AGI software knowledge desired but not mandatory, On job training shall be provided)
  • Design Traffic Signal Systems to Ontario Traffic Manual. (Traffic Signal system design is desired but not mandatory, On job training shall be provided)
  • Experience in Roadway lighting design and Traffic Signal design including phasing and signal timing plans in the province of Ontario is desired but not mandatory
  • Develop designs for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) elements
  • Generate one-line diagrams, traffic signal wiring diagrams, roadway lighting wiring diagrams and electrical details
  • Perform Voltage Drop Calculations, short circuit calculations and arc flash analysis calculations. (Past knowledge of how to perform these calculations is desired but not mandatory, On job training shall be provided)
  • Write and edit project construction specifications.
  • Review shop drawings, equipment submittals, perform site observations etc.
  • Coordinate on site with electrical contractor and Performs field inspections and provides professional field support as necessary during construction phases.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering and preferably 1 year of related work experience. (Experience is desired but not mandatory, On Job training provided to fresh out of school EIT)
  • Proficient in the utilization of current electrical engineering theories and practices.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

  • Potential to perform in an engineering team, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are desired.
  • Strong background in AutoCAD, MicroStation and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is desired but not required.
  • Position is Contract position. (1 year) to possible FT Hire.
