Position Summary

The Sandwich Prep Associate is a key member of the Kitchen Department, responsible for the consistent, high-quality preparation and assembly of all sandwiches sold in the Gourmet To Go (Cafe) department. This individual will follow established recipes and presentation standards, ensuring that every sandwich meets our store's commitment to quality, taste, and appearance. The role requires attention to detail, speed, food safety awareness, and a passion for preparing fresh, made-to-order products in a fast-paced environment.

Job Structure

This is a full-time hourly position. Work schedule includes weekends and holidays as required. Paid vacation accrual at 4%. Benefits are offered after 6 months of full-time employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble a variety of gourmet sandwiches according to standardized recipes and portion guidelines.
  • Ensure consistency in product presentation and portion size.
  • Prepare ingredients daily, including slicing meats, cheeses, and vegetables as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized sandwich prep station at all times.
  • Label and date all prepared items according to food safety and store policies.
  • Monitor product levels and communicate inventory needs to the Culinary Director/Head Chef.
  • Assist with rotating stock and minimizing food waste.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards, including proper glove and hairnet use.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and cafe staff to fulfill large or special orders in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude and provide excellent internal customer service to fellow staff.

Qualifications

  • Previous food preparation or sandwich-making experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes precisely.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and basic kitchen sanitation practices.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 37 – 44 per week
